President's Vision for a 'Viksit Bharat' - Key Highlights


In her first address to the new Parliament building, President Droupadi Murmu outlined the government's vision and roadmap for building a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) over the next 25 years. Her wide-ranging speech highlighted major initiatives and achievements across various sectors. Here are some of the key points:

- India emerged as the fastest growing major economy despite global headwinds

- Significant economic reforms like IBC, GST, focus on ease of doing business 

- Record FDI inflows, surge in startups, robust exports

- Emphasis on Make in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PLI schemes  


Infrastructure Drive

- Massive investments in roads, railways, airports, ports, internet connectivity

- Expansion of metro rail, launch of Vande Bharat semi-high speed trains

- One Nation, One Power Grid and Gas Grid for integrated transmission


Welfare Schemes 

- 25 crore people lifted out of poverty in last decade

- Housing, toilets, cooking gas, drinking water for the poor

- PM-KISAN income support, crop insurance for farmers  

- Free foodgrains, affordable healthcare saving crores for citizens


Empowering Youth and Women

- Focus on skilling, new education policy, Atal Tinkering Labs 

- Initiatives like Mudra loans, NAMO Drone Didi promoting entrepreneurship

- Greater political representation, permanent commission in armed forces


Upliftment of Marginalized 

- Outreach to tribals, particularly vulnerable groups through schemes

- Vision to integrate street vendors, traditional craftsmen into formal economy

- Constitutional status for OBC commission, 27% OBC quota in medical seats


Technology and Frontier Sectors

- Rapid digitalization, UPI transactions, Ayushman Bharat digital mission

Climate & Sustainability

- Transition to renewables - 50% non-fossil target for installed power capacity

- Focus on green mobility - EVs, ethanol blending, hydrogen

The President's address encapsulated the government's vision ranging from economic growth to societal empowerment and emerging technologies. It painted a picture of an 'Amrit Bharat' with development reaching all sections by 2047, the centenary year of independence.
