In a recent development concerning the ongoing General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a press note regarding the adjournment of the poll in the 29-Betul (ST) Parliamentary Constituency of Madhya Pradesh. This decision comes in light of the unfortunate demise of a contesting candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party, a recognised National Party.

The ECI had initially announced the general election to the Lok Sabha on 16th March 2024. As part of this electoral process, the election in the 29-Betul (ST) PC of Madhya Pradesh was scheduled to be held in the 2nd Phase of the Election. The official notification for this constituency was issued on 28th March 2024, with the last date for the withdrawal of candidature set for 8th April 2024.

However, following the untimely passing of the Bahujan Samaj Party's contesting candidate on 9th April 2024, the Election Commission, in accordance with Section 52 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has adjourned the election in the 29-Betul (ST) constituency.

As per the latest announcement by the Election Commission, the adjourned poll for the 29-Betul (ST) Parliamentary Constituency in Madhya Pradesh will now take place in the 3rd Phase of the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024. The schedule for the adjourned poll is as follows:
